Need a GPS - What do you suggest?

I need to get a Marine GPS for my boat. I want to stay in the $300.00 range if possible. Any suggestions? Magellan? Garmin? Specific models that you know about and would recommend?

Buy the best Garmin you can for the 300 bucks.

If you want a kick ass fish finder/GPS model triple that and get a 198C
