US Reel - Supercaster Fishing Reels

Postby allingeneral on Tue Apr 15, 2008 12:08 pm

The US Reel company patented the supercaster reel in the year 2000. The introduction of the US Reel Supercaster reel introduced two of the biggest improvements to the spinning reel industry since the inception of the spinning reel.

Wide Spool Design
The wide spool design used on the Supercaster reels helps with several problems that are inherent in previously developed spinning reels:
- Casting distance is greatly increased: Due to the larger amount of line that comes off of the reel with each loop.
- Line memory decreased: Due to the larger diameter of the Supercaster spool, line memory is greatly reduced since it does not have to be looped as tightly around the spool.
- Less line twisting: When retrieving the line, less loops around the spool are required which greatly reduces the amount of line twist that is introduced.

Light weight
The light weight of the Supercaster line of reels helps increase usability and castability. The SuperCaster 230SX weighs only 9 ounces. That's 50 percent lighter than most comparably sized reels. The body of the Supercaster reel is made from either Carbon Fiber, Composite or Aluminum, depending on the model. This helps to reduce the weight of the Supercaster fishing reel, but does not compromise the Supercaster fishing reel's strength and ability to fight big fish!

Yeah, you definitely need one. You probably want either the 230SX or 230XL. :)

and for what it's worth...I refuse to mess with a baitcast reel
