CBBT and Plantation light fishing

Postby OldskoolFishing » Sun Dec 16, 2007 1:03 pm

Fishing continues to be strong at the CBBT as well as the cabbage patch and Plantation light. We've had great success jigging nice stripers up to 44" at the CBBT as well as eeling fish up to 50#'s drifting eels from plantation light all the way south to Kiptopeake. As long as the current is running the bite has been as good as it gets. What I like to do is start at plantation light in about 90 ft. of water. Normally in a few drifts you can easily get a nice limit of 40" plus fish. Then we move south to jig the bridge for huge numbers of quality fish. On an average day we can release over 200 fish jigging BKD's on the pilings of the CBBT. Most fish between 26 and 38" with a few over 40" mixed in. Birds have shown up also on the ocean side and sometimes produce quality fish over the slot limit. I also have ran a few trips out of Wachapreague and twice have found huge schools of migrating rocks and blues within the 3 mile limit.
Fishing offshore and in from NJ to NC. Specializing in shark fishing and light tackle angling for big fish. Fishing offshore on the charter boat Oldskool. Pm me for open dates during the early mako season in '08.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to hear that things are going strong at CBBT. I'm going to have to make the trip down there one of these days. Unfortunately, free time is at a premium for me and I'm rarely able to get away.
