Rappahannock River Catfishing 15 May 2010

Postby allingeneral on Tue May 18, 2010 11:48 am

Took the boat out for the first time this past weekend to my normal spot a couple of miles downriver of Port Royal. It's too bad that work has kept me so busy that I haven't been able to get out until now.

We spent a few minutes with the cast net trying to get some fresh mud shad to bait up with, but no luck, so ended up using some frozen herring that I brought along instead. I never have nearly as much luck with frozen bait as I do with fresh shad.

We ended up catching just one small fry catfish that wasn't worth keeping all by itself, so I tossed it back into the drink.

Hopefully, I can get my cast net tuned in for some shad on the next outing and hope to have a better report at that time.

Tight lines!
Rick
