It was a great day Saturday for some fishing on the Rappahannock River. My beautiful wife and I went out Friday with the cast net and picked up several good sized mud shad for bait the following day. Saturday, we got the boat out on the water as the tide slacked and got ready to start heading out. Got anchored in my spot and tossed some baits in the water.
We ended up catching 6 blue cats - two were decent sized, three that were great eating size and one that we should have tossed back, but it will eat good too. The small fry was our first fish of the season, so of course we had to keep it!
I didn't weigh any of them, but I'm guessing about 4lb on the largest one.
Here are a couple of pictures.
