Lake Simcoe Ice Fising

Postby Whitey on Fri Jan 02, 2009 6:11 pm

Just thought you'd like some up to date info on lake Simcoe, the premier ice fishing location for perch !!Well folks, after all of the ice monitoring because of the rain and wind storms we finally feel confident enough to put some huts out on Cooks Bay and open the season. At this time we have 7 huts out (with more to come!) on Cooks Bay about 3/4 mile on 6.5 inches of good ice. We are not yet in the area we normally set up camp, but there are fish under us at this point!, some good weed cover can be seen. We are taking bookings and did a quick video to show you where we are and our opening set up. The critter you see on the video is our little mascot “Finnegan” all suited up for the cold. As of the end of the day report, there are schools of perch coming through our location, and some huts did well on the perch as well as snagging a pike! Please give us a call if you’d like to book as we are taking reservations from here on in! As ususal, we will post videos and information on fish catches as well as ice conditions on out site http://www.simcoefishingadventures.com as we go forward. We can see huts out in the Gilford area as well, but cannot comment on the west side of the bay. To the north, there is still open water so check with operators up Pefferlaw and Virgina way if that is your favorite as they are a little behind us in the ice making process. To all our friends, Happy New Year, we hope that 2009 brings health and happiness to all. Whitey and Wifey!

Hi Whitey - :welcome: to the forum!

I updated your original post so that the youtube video displays right there within your post. To do the same in the future, just use the [ youtube] tags (no spaces in the tags) and place the video number between them such as DrVl9OaJDB4 in the case of this video. So, the tag would look as follows:

[ youtube]DrVl9OaJDB4

Again, welcome aboard. Stay warm and catch a lot of fish!! :fishing:
