Flash Flood at Campground in Arkansas

Postby BackwoodsInvent on Sun Jun 13, 2010 1:11 am

I live in Arkansas, and I camped at Albert Pike with my whole family (wife and 5 kids, including my 3-yr old daughter) last fall. I'm sure you've all seen the news about the horrible flash flood that occurred there this week. The lesson I'm taking away from this tragedy is this...I don't care if you're in a tent, an rv or a cabin, if you're near water that could possibly rise and it starts raining, you have to check the water levels frequently and be prepared to move out quickly--immediately! Have an escape route planned. So sad for those families. God bless them.

Those who lived there really lost a lot. The government should assign a radius around the water area wherein people could live so people could keep their distance faster if there would be another tragedy such as that.
