That's awesome, Crab. Smallies are my favorite fish and Lake Erie is one of the finest smallmouth lakes in the world. I have never fished Erie, but do most of my smallie fishing in Lake Michigan, up near Sturgeon Bay, WI.

For just tying my main line to the lure, I'll use the palomar knot. It's very strong and I can use it with any line from braid to mono to fluoro.
