Re: Freshwater Fishing Rod Best Quality?

Rich is right - you can catch fish on any rod and Ugly Sticks have been used by fishermen for years. They are a good all-around, general-purpose rod that will last a long, long time. Re: Annual Lake Erie Smallmouth Trip

That's awesome, Crab. Smallies are my favorite fish and Lake Erie is one of the finest smallmouth lakes in the world. I have never fished Erie, but do most of my smallie fishing in Lake Michigan, up near Sturgeon Bay, WI.

By the way, nice 4+-pounder. Thanks for sharing.

And you have done a great job, Rick. I know that I haven't been around much lately, but I'll be popping in more often in 2009. This is a cozy little place on the web and I look forward to contributing more when and where I can.

Re: Good Read on Tungsten and Bass Fishing

Good read, Rich. Personally, I have switched to tungsten weights this year, and when used with braided line, I can feel absolutely everything. It's really amazing. When I first started using them, I was setting the hook because of everything I was feeling. It took a while to get the feel, but once I...

Re: What type of knot do you use?

For just tying my main line to the lure, I'll use the palomar knot. It's very strong and I can use it with any line from braid to mono to fluoro.
