Paul Marafelias from New Jersey and his guests, Frank and Joanne McNamara, from New York chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. Paul is a repeat customer of the Topshotfishing team and has fished with us numerous times. As Paul and his guests were greeted by the Topshotfishing team, we asked them what type of fishing they wanted to do. Paul’s replay was that he wanted his guests to experience a lot of fishing action.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers, both with double hooked Bonito strips. For surface baits, we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos.

We trolled the reefs zigzagging in and out from 80 ft. out to 190 ft., going over as many of our 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale off of Broward County. Any type of structure, natural or artificial, will attract the bait fish and in return the predators will not be too far behind. These artificial wrecks will hold a great variety of different fish – from the bottom feeders (Groupers, Amberjacks, Mutton Snappers, Yellow Tail, etc.), as well as surface predators (Kingfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Barracudas, Tunas, etc.).

Frank and Joanne were the first and second anglers up and each caught a double header Kingfish, while Paul took pictures of the couple’s catch. Everybody took turns reeling in their fish, winding up with a total of nine Kingfish, three Tunas and four Barracudas, with a couple of Bonitos thrown in.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV. Mission accomplish – everybody was kept busy reeling in their catches.
