NYC Fishing Jamaica Bay

Post by The ANGLER »

The fishing in Jamaica Bay has been nothing short of fantastic. Most trips are catching their limit (2 over 28") with Bass up to 35 lbs. We have been using live bunker (manhaden) as the bait of choice, drifting in different depths between 20 and 40 ft. When the current exceeds 2 kts we toss the anchor and chunk up the baits on the bottom. Bunker heads have been working well with the big bass and monster weakfish and bluefish continue to provide action when the bass quit biting. The fluke fishing has been hot and cold since opening day May 15 due to all the rain activity that we have had. As soon as the weather makes up it's mind then all hell is gonna break loose. There are a lot of tide stations in Jamaica Bay. If you use the search function on the tide pages and search for Jamaica Bay, you'll see nine different stations.

Thanks for the report Ken. I hope the fishing stays hot in Jamaica Bay!
