Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

John Hayes, owner of Hayes Contracting Company from New York, and his wife, Kurstin, chose the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

John, an avid fisherman, was impressed by the short distance we had to travel to get to our fishing grounds compared to the traveling he goes through in New York to get to the same depths of water, 120 ft. Here in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore is our drop off – in just 15 minutes after leaving the dock, lines are in the water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale

We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down both with sea witches and double hooked Bonito strips. For surface baits, we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. We trolled the reefs, zig-zagging from 80 ft. out to 220 ft. of water while the two anglers took turns bringing in their catches, which were one Kingfish, five Tunas and eight Bonitos.

From there we decided to do some kit fishing over a wreck located in 180 ft. of water and we caught a Jack Crevalle weighing 21 lbs, with two other misses.

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
