Deep Sea Fishing Fort Lauderdale Topshotfishing Happy Day To

Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Chris Edmundson from Indiana and his son, Sean, now living in Colorado, along with their friend, Don Marsh, and his son, Alex, from Georgia chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Chris is the owner of Edmundson RV Sales and Service – http://www.edmundsonrv.com/ - a company in Indiana that sells and services new and pre-owned RV’s. As they boarded the boat, we asked the anglers what they would be interested in catching. Sean’s reply was, “something big”, so with that in mind, our targets were Shark and Sailfish.

On the way out, we stopped at T&T Bait to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes which I planned to use later in the trip. Fifteen/twenty minutes from the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore in 120 ft. of water.

We started out trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a 2 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips. As we trolled the drop off out to 200 ft. of water, the anglers took turns reeling in their catches – six Black Fin Tunas and three Bonitos.

From there we ventured out to 350 ft. of water and put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite, along with one surface Shark bait and one bottom Shark bait. While waiting for the predator’s arrival, the anglers were conversing on the rest of their vacation plans. Dorsal fin close to surface Shark bait!!!! – as the Shark attacked the surface bait – hooked up!!! – the fun began. Sean was our angler and jumped into the fighting chair to do battle with the Golden Hammerhead Shark. After a 45 minute battle, Dave, our mate, wired the estimated 8 ft., 200 lb. Shark to the side of the boat for picture taking and release – great job Sean!!! We were now close to one of our artificial wrecks located in 210 ft. of water, so we dropped a live Goggle Eye on top of the wreck. Shortly thereafter the rod bent over – hooked up!!! Alex was our angler and after a fifteen minute fight he was rewarded with a 45 lb. Amberjack.

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
