Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Jennifer and John Dube, along with their friend, Tristan Lapierre from Quebec chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The gang was on vacation from Canada, enjoying the Fort Lauderdale warm weather.

Fifteen/twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore, in 120 ft. of water. We started out trolling with two plainers down and sea witches with a double hooked Bonito strip behind them. For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips. As we trolled on the outside of the reef, there were birds working the area east of Fort Lauderdale so I headed out towards the birds. The anglers took turns and caught four Black Fin Tunas in this area.

From there the anglers wanted to do some Shark fishing so I headed out to our Shark grounds, south of Fort Lauderdale in 350 ft. of water. We put out three Shark baits – one surface, one midrange and one bottom. With a slight north current, we had a chum bag over the side for the scent. After a 45 minute wait, a dorsal fin appeared and attacked the surface bait. Hooked up!!! The fun was on – Tristan was the angler and he hopped into the fighting chair to enjoy the fun. After a forty minute battle, Dave, our mate, wired the 7 ½ ft., estimated 200 lb. Hammerhead Shark to the side of the boat for picture taking. “It is like grabbing a tiger by the tail”, Dave remarked. The Shark was released to fight again, and congratulations went around for a job well done.

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock. The gang retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
