Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak
Sailfish Morten s.jpg
Morten, Jens, Thor, Einar and Hanson from Norway down in South Florida for vacation chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The wind was blowing 15 mph out of the east, which is a good direction to kite fish. The seas were 2 to 5 ft. with a north current and the water was a pretty blue.

We went right out to 300 ft. of water, less than 2 miles off shore of Fort Lauderdale, and put up two kites in the air - a right kite and a left kite - with two live Goggles Eyes for bait on each kite. Goggle Eyes are excellent baits for kite fishing. We had a perfect spread of baits, so I knew a Sailfish would be showing up. After some time working the kites, a Sailfish dorsal fin popped up on the left kite bait. Matt, our mate, fed the fish, and when he set the hook, the Sailfish came up jumping out of the water showing his beautiful bright colors. The Sailfish was ripping drag out and running all over to get away. All five anglers fought the Sailfish, and after 35 minutes, they got the Sailfish along the side of the boat. As Matt was wiring the Sailfish and with 2 ft. to bill the fish, the leader let go.

We went back to kite fishing and put the same set back out. This time a Mahi Mahi ate the Goggle Eye bait, and he gave the angler a good fight. The angler brought the Mahi Mahi to the side of the boat, Matt gaffed the Mahi Mahi and put him in the fish box.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Matt fillet out the Mahi Mahi for the anglers to take home to enjoy as their dinner tonight. This was a fun trip, and we hope to have the anglers back from Norway next year.
