Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Randy, a local from Fort Lauderdale, along with his friends, Shakeer, Yohan and Tosh all from Toronto chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The wind was blowing today – a sporty easterly wind topping 20+ mph. We had pretty blue waters with lots of bait fish or fliers coming out of the water.

Today was a good day for kite fishing – we stopped at Andy’s Live Bait Boat, purchased a dozen live Goggle Eyes and headed out to deeper waters off of Fort Lauderdale. We put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and positioned the boat into the wind, keeping the bow angled into the current. Within a few minutes, there was a large explosion in the water on the right short, as a Smoker Kingfish skyrocketed out of the water. After a good fight, the angler reeled in a 35 lb. smoker Kingfish. (This was not a Snake but an Anaconda.) This Kingfish was so big that it did not even fit into the fish box – its tail was sticking out.

After that catch, we set up again with the two kites and four live Goggle Eyes. After a while, another explosion was heard on the right long line – a Sailfish jumped out of the water showing its magnificent color and doing 360 flips. The Sailfish ate the bait and started peeling off a lot of drag and sounding. Randy was first up as angler, then the rest of the anglers took turns on the reel, all contributing and catching the Sailfish. The Sailfish was brought to the side of the boat, the hooks were removed, pictures were taken and the 75 lb. Sailfish was released to fight another day. Congratulations to all the anglers for a job well done.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
