Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Ken Rosenfield, Michelle Lanno and Chandra Arbuckle from Boston chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. After doing her research on Tripadvisor, Michelle contacted us to discuss the type of fishing she wanted to do and when we could accommodate them. So she reserved the boat, and off we went to catch a large Shark.

Fifteen/twenty minutes after leaving the dock, we were fishing by the sea buoy north of Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down and four surface baits. As we trolled the reefs, we caught a couple of Bonitos and a Black Fin Tuna.

The water was changing and looking very promising for Shark fishing so we set out three Shark baits – one bottom, one midrange and one surface – and set out one kite with two live Goggle Eyes in 400 ft. of water. The wine bottle was opened, and the anglers poured themselves some wine while they relaxed and waited patiently for his arrival. Then it happened – hooked up with the midrange bait. Slowly the fish starts heading towards the east of Fort Lauderdale to deeper waters. Then he picked up speed and the rod tip started bouncing - a good indication that it may be a Thresher Shark as the tail was hitting the leader. Michelle hopped into the fighting chair first – after a good exhausting fight, it was time to change anglers and Ken jumped into the chair. After two hours and twenty minutes, the monster made his appearance – a Thresher Shark measuring 12 ft. long. Mark, our mate, wired the fish and brought it to the side of the boat. Pictures were taken, hooks were removed and the Shark was released and swam away wagging his tail at us.

It was a long and hard fight for the anglers and crew, but well rewarded. Job well done, Michelle, Ken and Mark.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the last of their wine on the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Mark filet the Tuna for the anglers to enjoy for tonight’s dinner.
