Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Harry Kuant, Anilda Kuant, Felipe and Kandy Londono and Jorge and Laura Riojas chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had cool weather with 75 degrees, winds blowing from the north – the water was very calm with a teal green color

We started the morning trolling the reefs in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore north of Fort Lauderdale. We put out five surface baits rigged with Ballyhoo baits - two long baits and two short baits with one flat line close to the boat and one deep plainer line with a seawitch strip bait 50 feet down. We trolled from 120 ft. deep to 300 ft. of water and found a nice color change in 200 ft. The color change had bait fish hanging around it, and there was a little bit of current in the color change – we concentrated on this area.

We slow trolled the Ballyhoo baits along the edge of the color change. All of a sudden the right rigger came screaming down, and a giant Sailfish came jumping out of the water. Fish on! Jorge was the first angler, and he fought this Sailfish long and hard with gains and losses on the line. The Sailfish swam up and down the seas until it came up along side the boat for a photo and a release.

We continued back to trolling the reef in 200 ft. of water, where the color change was, changing angles and depths. We worked the area looking for another fish, when all of a sudden we got another huge bite. The line came ripping down - we had another big one on!! Felipe was the angler, and he jumped into the fighting chair, pulling back and reeling down on the Sailfish. He lost some line and gained it back until the Sailfish was along the side of the boat for a quick photo.

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. We hope to have everyone back in the near future.
