Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Blake Jaeton, Jim Glover and Mike chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep-sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As the anglers the boarded the boat, I asked Blake what type of fishing he was interested in, and his response was that any fish will do.

We headed out the inlet and started trolling by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore at 120 ft. of water. If you venture off another quarter of a mile, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off.

We put out one #8 plainer and one #6 with sea witches and doubled hooked Bonito strips. For surface baits we went with 3 Ballyhoos and one strip bait. We trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. of water out to 220 ft. of water, zig zagging in and out. We kept trolling off of Fort Lauderdale and headed towards some of our 34 artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale. We started catching Kingfish around one wreck that sits in 104 ft. of water. The anglers took turns bringing in their Kingfish.

Then, I set out 2 kites with 2 live Goggle Eyes from each kite in 180 feet of water off of north Fort Lauderdale looking for a Sailfish. We caught one more Kingfish, for a total of 9 Kingfish, then went back to trolling.

As we trolled back to the sea buoy in Ft. Lauderdale, we caught three other Bonitos. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
