Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Chad, Randy, Pete, Ramon, Anthony and Tyler from South Carolina, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started the morning trolling the reefs with three surface lines and two deep lines. We had nice conditions with light easterly winds but there was a lot of sea weed. It was a little difficult to fish because of the large weed clusters.

We started working the reef from shallow to deep waters searching for fish from 100 feet of water to 300 feet of water. We got our first bite on the deep plainer line. As we were bringing in the fish, something larger got the Tuna and we only brought in a Tuna head. We will never know what got a hold of it, but it was probably a Shark or Barracuda.

We continued trolling, and got a nice bite on the plainer rod in 150 ft. of water, which turned out to be a Bonito. Lines went back in the water, and we worked the reef going over wrecks and rock structures off of Fort Lauderdale. The deep plainer rod went off again, and we got another Bonito.

The guys wanted to try some Shark fishing, so we brought in our trolling spread and went out to deeper waters. I rigged three baits and set them out in different depths – surface, midrange and bottom. All of a sudden, drag started ripping out of the bottom rod, and a Shark was on. Chad was the angler and started fighting the Hammerhead Shark. After an awesome fight, Chad got the Shark to the side of the boat – we took the hooks out and released the Hammerhead. Great job on catching that Shark, Chad!

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
