Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Brothers Dennis and Paul Torpelio and friends, Nick and Dmitris Kozlov, originally from Russia but now living in Orlando, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Paul read our reviews on Tripadvisor and decided to contact me on chartering our boat for a fishing excursion. In our conversations over the phone, he mentioned that he prefers traveling the 3 hours by car to get to Fort Lauderdale where the fishing grounds were only a few minutes away from shore than to fish locally in Daytona which is a 2 hour traveling time by boat to get to the fishing grounds. This makes sense since you get more fishing time coming to Fort Lauderdale.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off in Fort Lauderdale. We started trolling using two #8 plainers with sea witches and double hooked Bonito strips on both. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.

We trolled the drop off, ranging from 75 ft. out to 250 ft. of water over many artificial wrecks here in Fort Lauderdale. All the anglers took turns reeling in their catches and having a good time. Dennis, an experienced angler/mate, was a great asset in helping out in the cockpit.

With a total of 4 Kingfish, three Bonitos, three Barracudas and one Tuna, it was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Dave, our mate, filet out the fish for the anglers to take back home to Orlando that same day.
