Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Mike Salvadore, along with his sons, David, Tiny, and James, and daughters, Amber and Nina, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. This charter was a father’s day present given by Mr. Salvadore’s children to their dad – what a great way to spend time with the family!!!

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two #8 plainers, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. As we trolled the reefs, the Salvador’s took turns reeling in a total of seven Kingfish ranging from 7 lbs. to 12 lbs with a few swings and misses.

The Salvadore’s wanted to do some Shark fishing so we headed out to 350 ft. of water north of Fort Lauderdale and put out three Shark baits – one on the bottom, one midrange and one on the surface. Twenty minutes later, a Hammerhead Shark came roaring in onto the surface bait with his dorsal fin out of the water, thrashing – hooked up. Mike was the angler and he jumped into the fighting chair to do battle. After twenty-five minutes later, Mike brought the Shark to the side of the boat – Dave, our mate, wired the Shark for picture taking. Hook was removed and the Shark was released to fight again. What a great Father’s Day gift.

It was time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316, while watching the plasma TV.
