Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Brian Rava and his wife, Jo, along with their 3 children, Hayley age 12, Jack age 10 and Jessica age 7, chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea spot fishing in Fort Lauderdale. FL. The Rava's are originally from Australia but are currently living in Kazahkstan. Variable winds were out of the east, seas running 1-2 ft., blue skies, and temperature in the low 90's.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale 33316 lines were in the water at the sea buoy in 120 ft. of water. With three young children aboard our boat, our objective was to put smiles on their faces by catching lots of fish.

We started off with 2 #8 planiers, both with double hooked Bonito strips with sea witches in front, one blue and white the other blue and pink. For surface baits we had two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. Hayley was our first angler and she reeled in a Kingfish weighing 10 lbs. Jack was up next followed by Jessica, each catching Bonitos. Jessica and Jack, even though they were quite young, did extremely well proving that they have done this before. We kept criss-crossing the reef, ranging in depth of water from 80 ft out to 200 ft. We ended up with a total of three Kingfish, two Barracudas and four Bonitos. Mother and father documented their children's angler action by video graphing the event.

After a great deal of fishing and fun, it was time to head back. The anglers retired into the a/c salon for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
