Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Bill English, along with his sons, Tim and CR, form Boston chartered the Topshotfishing fishing team to do some big game deep sea spot fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL. Winds were out of the east at 12 mph, seas running 3-4 ft, sun playing peak-a-boo - a very comfortable temperature.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Ft. Lauderdale, 1.8 miles off shore. We started off with two #8 plainers, one with a 3 1/2 blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Bonito strips and one jap feather down the center outrigger. As I trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. out to 160 ft. of water, our first hook up was a Kingfish on the plainer with the 3 1/2 drone spoon. From there the anglers took turns catching five Kingfish, four of them were shorts.

I headed out towards a wreck that sits in 350 ft. of water. The last couple of days the Black Fin Tunas have been biting very well here. Although they were not large ones, they were perfect for sushi. As soon as I trolled over the wreck, all the surface baits were hooked up. We kept circling the wreck catching more and more Tunas, winding up with a total of 15 Tunas.

With plenty of good edible fish to take home, the anglers retired into the a/c salon for a relaxing ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
