Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Rahim Patel and Hans Mathiak, both from Michigan, and Scott Pozen, from Illinois, all from the banking industry and their first fishing expedition, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the north, northeast at 17 mph, seas running 4-5 ft., temperatures in the mid 70’s.

Twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 170 ft. of water off the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. We put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and one live Goggle Eye from the rigger. As the bankers were discussing business, a black shadow appeared on the right short and his brother appeared on the left short – double header - hooked up!!!! The two Sailfish came out of the water showing their magnificent color and power as they tail-walked in different directions from the boat. Five minutes into the battle, one Sailfish pulled the hook so all eyes were on the other Sailfish. Scott was our angler and brought the Sailfish to the boat for picture taking and release. We reset again and the next fish was a Mahi Mahi from the right short kite which Rahim brought to the boat. We reset for the third time and I was thankful to see another black shadow appear on the left long – hooked up – the Sailfish came out of the water putting on a spectacular show – Hans was our angler and twenty minutes later he reeled in an 87” Sailfish, which was released to fight again.

For being the first time these bankers were ever out on the water and fishing, they did an excellent job and all three were rewarded with their catches.

It was time to head back so the anglers went into the a/c salon for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
