Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Sailfish Joe.jpg

Once again my old friend, Joe Florea, President of Aruba Construction, and his good friend and business associate, Rick Muller, from Nautica Management, from South Florida chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Today winds were out of the south at 12 mph, seas running 3-5 ft., temperatures in the mid 80’s with the sun playing peek-a-boo.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two plainers down, one with a black and purple sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip; the other with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strip.

As we trolled the reefs picking away at some Kingfish and Bonitos, our plainer rod bent over with the line screaming off the reel while the rod tip bounced up and down; a good indication that the fish on the line is a Wahoo. Joe seated himself in the fighting while Dave, our mate, handed him the rod. While Joe is fighting the fish, we all see a Sailfish breaking water, so the fish we suspected actually turned into a Sailfish!!!! Dave, our mate, wired the Sailfish, which was then released to fight again.

I trolled offshore heading towards the Golden Tile area, but before getting there, we wound up with 8 Blackfin Tunas and one Mahi Mahi. Once we were in the area, approximately 650 ft. in water, the anglers caught 4 Golden Tiles

It was time to head back to the barn - the anglers relaxed in the a/c salon for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
