Deep Sea Sport Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Steve James and his wife, Beatriz Aguirre, along with Steve’s parents from Wales, John and Pat, were vacationing here in Fort Lauderdale and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Today there were blue skies, winds out of the west at 5-7 mph and seas were running 1-2 ft.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the Bahia Mar dock, lines were in the water at the sea buoy less than 2 miles from shore in 120 ft. of water. Steve was looking to target fish to bring back home for dinner.

We started out trolling the reefs with two #8 plainers and an 80 ft. trace; both plainers had double hooked Mullet strips and sea witches in front. For surface baits we went with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos. As we zigzagged off and on the reefs, ranging from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. of water, the James gang was discussing the difference in weather between sunny Fort Lauderdale and Wales. Pat was our first angler, followed by John, then Steve and Beatriz as they all participated in catching a total of: 4 Kingfish, (two shorts), 3 Bonitos, 3 Black Fin Tunas and 3 Oceanic Skipjack Tunas.

The James gang enjoyed their fishing expedition and the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar in the a/c salon.
