South Florida Bass & Peacock Bass Fishing 2-21-08

Post by peacock08 »

Hey everybody the peacock bass fishing in South Florida is starting to really heat up! Thursday Feb. 21st I had Nathan Reisdorph from San Antonio, Texas out for some South Florida Peacock Bass action. We never got into any big ones but we landed 21 Peacock Bass up to 2 1/2 lbs. These are average size peacocks. The normal range is from 1 to 3 lbs. Anything above 4 lbs. is trophy size with plenty of 5 to 7 lb. fish swimming in South Florida waters. South Florida is the only place in the continental U.S. that Butterfly Peacock Bass swim in. These fish are similar to smallmouth bass in characteristics, but tend to fight a little harder! We are now heading into the prime season for peacock bass fishing which usually lasts until mid-summer. Peacock Bass love hot weather!
