I must first say that I'm missing my beautiful wife. She would like it here. This motel is awesome with a nice waterfront view (much better than the Hampton Inn's view) and a nice heated swimming pool and a jacuzzi...and a nice pier that faces the sunset.
I spoke briefly with the guy that owns the place today. He told me that they have a nice dredged channel next to the pier and that the main channel in the bay is marked well and clear of obstructions. He said that we are about a mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Just go south out the bay, past Assateague Island (a nature preserve) and there you are...open ocean!
Here's a link to the Chincoteague tide charts which includes a google map of the area. The place that I'm staying is right next to the US Coast Guard station.

Now I need to go talk to a couple of folks and see what kind of fishing they do up here. The owner of the Waterside mentioned that he was "Going out to plant clams" this week. I didn;t know that they did that! Now I need to find out what to fish for and where to do it...then I can bring my lovely bride up here for a couple of days (alone! sans kids!) and we can fish or sit in the hot tub or take a nice quiet ride on the boat or talk about the first thing that comes up! hehe (psst! I love you Shelley!)
Okay..now back to fishing on Chincoteague Island... More to follow!
