Hernando Beach Florida Inshore Fishing

Post by fishdaddy »

The water temp has moved to about 87 degrees, this means changinging fishing tactics. Getting up early can make a big difference in catching due to the water temp being cooler. Try topwater baits like skitter walks or top dogs in the grassy shoreline areas first thing in the morning. The trout and redfish have been very active with this tactic. Always have a jig or jerkbait ready, if you start getting hit/miss, try throwing one of these in the area of the miss and be ready, the fish is probably still looking for its prey he missed. Also having these baits ready for the cobias that have been cruising the flats, look for the bigger rays and you may see a cobia with then. They are not picky, just get your bait in front of the ray and the cobia will attack, this makes for some great site fishing. Good luck and let me know how your fishing is going on the Nature Coast.
