Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Once is never enough – Peter McHugh and son, Aidan, from Florence MA chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team last week to do some deep sea fishing. They had such a good time and were impressed with the fishing action that they came back a couple of days later for a second fishing charter.

With luck on his side from the first fishing charter where he caught a Sailfish, Hammerhead Shark and a bunch of Bonito’s, we headed again towards T & T Bait to purchase a dozen Goggle Eyes for bait. From there we headed out to the sea buoy off of Fort Lauderdale FL located in 120 ft. of water, which is 1.8 miles from shore. Our lines went out with two kites and two live Goggle Eyes from each kite; one live Goggle Eyes from the outrigger and a Shark bait on the bottom, as we sat in 150 ft. of water very close to one of our artificial wrecks off of Fort Lauderdale FL, hoping for a Shark lingering around the wrecks. As Pete was talking about going to other countries to do some fishing, the left, long kite bait screamed the line off. It was difficult to see the bite with the sun glittering on the water. We cleared the other lines and Pete attended to his rod. As the fish appeared, I looked into the depth of the water and saw it was a Kingfish, not realizing the size of it until he came close to the surface. It’s an Anaconda!!!! (very large Kingfish) Dave, our mate, gaffed the fish, not realizing the fish was still “green” – immediately the fish took him to his knees. Dave held onto the gaff, recovered his standing position and dragged the Kingfish over the covering board. His razor sharp teeth were snapping back and forth and caught Dave’s knee. We pored bleach on his knee, super glued the gash and Dave was as good as new. The Kingfish topped the scale at 55 lbs.

From there we went out to do some Shark fishing. As we were letting out the 2nd Shark bait, Dave remarked that there was something wrong since he could not feel the lead on the line. Five seconds later, the line starting screaming off the reel – Shark was on!!!! A half hour later, the Shark was brought to the side of the Happy Day Today. Pictures were taken and the Shark was released.

It was time to head back. For a successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter in South Florida for Sailfish, Shark, Bonito, Mackerel, Swordfish, Snapper, Wahoo and Grouper contact Captain Zsak. - 954-309-7457 or email us at http://www.topshotfishing.com.
