Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Marc Halley, along with his wife, Debra, and son, Bradon, from Ohio were on their family outing and chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale FL.

With winds out of the north at 15 mph and blue waters all the way into the 2nd reef, had all the tell tale signs of a good day of fishing. I headed towards an artificial wreck that sits in 150 ft. of water. We put out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and one live Goggle Eye on the deep line. Our first two fish was a double header Mahi Mahi as mother and son brought both fish in and DZ, our mate, gaffed them and placed them in the fish box. From there both kites were set up and sent out again – this time we had a silver torpedo that sky rocketed out of the water 10 ft high, belonging to a Kingfish. Bradon was the angler and he did a tug of war with the Kingfish that fought down deep. He succeeded in bringing the 26 lb. Anaconda Kingfish to the boat for DZ to gaff it, while his jaws were snapping. We set up again, and this time it was Marc’s turn. A black shadow appeared, frantically ate the right short bait and swam off with it. The Sailfish kept exiting the water with leaps and bounds away from the boat. After a twenty minute battle, Marc subdued the Sailfish and brought him to the boat as DZ billed the Sailfish for picture taking and release.

Everyone had a good time, but it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
