Hi Rich.
I was looking through your website and followed the link to the 2006 ESPN Weekend Bassmaster standings. I see that you finished third in the North Star region out of over 100 other anglers. That's impressive!
So, how long before you quit your job and just fish for a living?

Thanks, probably a couple years, it is definitly a goal of mine to make fishing a full-time career. Balancing finances and family life are very challenging for professional fishing. My short term plan is to fish as many tournaments as I can in MN & WI this year and then try to fish the BASS Opens next year

Can I pick two baits? Well I am
For the longest time it was a Green Pumpkin Lake Fork Ring Fry. I catch a lot of fish and good quality fish, plus it is so versatile. I lean on that bait like many guys lean on a senko. I fish it weightless, carolina, tx and and more.
#2 and becoming more and more of a go to, is a 3/8oz Green Pumpkin/Brown Tru-Tungsten Jig paired with a Super Chunk or a Speed Craw. This jig has a great hook, small profile due to the Tungsten head, and a round living rubber skirt that is tied on which makes it flare more then most skirts and it never slides down the hook. I won a lot of money in the BASS Weekend Series with this jig last year

go to bait
I used to rely heavily on a Carolina rigged ring fry or tube craw but now I would have to say my go to lure is a Strike King Bitsy Bug in black or watermelon. It is a finesse jig that still can catch 4-6 pound bass.
