what brand reel do you like for catfishing?

What is your favorite catfish reel brand,I like Garcia all the way. I have 2 6600-C4 reels a 6000 and Im gonna pick up a rcn60hc soo as I get the 150.00 bucks it cost lol. I gotta keep the wife from seeing it,cause I have to mush gear as it is. I have the Garcias on 2 cat maxx rods and a Berkley glow stick. Im looking into getting a custome rod for the 60hc. Let me know your favorite gear!

where do you live- what kind of cats are you fishing for- how big are they ?

I have severak Abu's just setting on a shelf, 5000, 5500- CT 6500....7500....ALL WITH BURNT OUT DRAGS FROM THE CATFISH I CATCH.....

Now all my Abu's are woth nothing but used to catch bait with, in the surf of the ocean....

My biggest fish are a 30lb flathead and 40lb blue,do your garcias have the new carbon matrix drag? Im no trophy catfish catcher but Ive not had any problems with my reels. You can upgrade the drag in your reels but you probably know that. I fish the Ohio and a few paylakes is where I fish and im from Ironton Ohio but I dont see why that matters. So what reels do you use? That was my question anyway.

crab, don't let Jamie fool ya... he doesn't even use a reel!! I know I saw a picture of Jamie "swimming with the fishes" around here a few months back...where did that noodle-head photo go, Jamie?

BACK TO YOUR QUESTION:::: I cant answer it to well cause I have 188 combos in my garage and fish both freshwater and saltwater weekly.....

A friend of mine uses nothing but spinning gear for cats in the James river- Shimano 6500 BaitRunner

My favorite is a Shimano Calcutta 400s bait caster ( NO level wind )
I love my Okuma AV-40 BaitRunner I got right here from RICK at AIG
I have caught a 45 pounder while crappie fishing on very light tackle as well....
I just got a Penn Mag 525 for a new catfish reel-
100's of guys from mastercatters & Katmasters use those abu's .....

thanks for the reply. Alot of guys I know use the Abus and like em,Heck my wife uses a zebco808 and Ive seen her pull in 30 plus pound flat heads on it lol.

Ok...so - Two things...

1) I don't care what kind of reel I use as long as it does the job. :fishin:

2) Jamie's balls are much bigger than mine. I wouldn't ever - EVER even attempt to yank a catfish out of a hole with my hands like that. Very nicely done Jamie! :thumbsup:
