Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Paul and Maria Joensson, along with their sons, Elton and Neo, from Sweden chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. As the Joensson’s boarded the boat, they were greeted by the Top Shot Sportfishing team and were asked what they were interested in catching. Their reply was, “anything that will bite the worm”. I replied that we didn’t have any worms on board but would use a different bait – hahaha . Today, the winds were out of the east 3-5 mph with blue skies.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started trolling north of Fort Lauderdale ranging in depths of water from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. covering the drop off. The two boys did not have to wait too long before the action started. Kingfish on the plainer rods! The two boys had fun feeling in their catches.

From there we kept trolling around and noticed a couple of birds working the area east of Fort Lauderdale. We headed out to that area - the water dropped off very quickly and due to our extreme drop off, we found ourselves in 520 ft. of water. We trolled around this area and picked away at a few Black Fin Tunas, Bonitos, a Barracuda and a Wahoo.

With two Bonitos, three Kingfish, one Barracuda, four Black Fin Tunas and one Wahoo, it was now time to head back to the dock. On the way back, Paul said, “You were right, Captain, your baits work better than worms.” The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
