Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Kurt and Michelle Johnson, along with their two children, Marshall and Jordan, chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some big game deep sea spot fishing in Fort Lauderdale. FL. Winds were out of the east at 5 mph, seas running 1-2 ft., blue skies, and temperature in the low 90's.

Kurt and Marshall were interested in catching a Shark so I planned to save some time to do Shark fishing later on in the day. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale 33316, lines were in the water at the sea buoy in 120 ft. of water.

We started off with a 3 1/2 blue reflector drone spoon on one plainer and the second plainer had a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Ballyhoo. For surface baits we had two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips. We started trolling and the family took turns as anglers; total catch was three Kingfish, five Bonitos and one Barracuda.

Now it was time to do some Shark fishing. I went out to 350 ft of water, which is our Shark area, and we put out one surface Shark bait, one midrange and one bottom bait. While we were letting the bottom bait out, a dorsal fin appeared and grabbed the surface bait - the fight began. Kurt was the first angler and jumped into the fighting chair. Twenty minutes later Kurt brought in a 6 ft Hammerhead Shark for picture taking and released to fight again. Now it was Marshall's turn. We repeated the set up - 25 minutes later we were hooked up with a Shark from the surface bait. Marshall hopped into the fighting chair to repeat his father's success with another 6 ft Hammerhead Shark. Pictures were taken and the Shark was released. With father and son accomplishing their mission, it was time to head back.

After a great deal of fishing and fun, it was time to head back. The anglers retired into the a/c salon for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
