Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Mixed Bag Jeff.jpg

Jeff and his son, Nick, a customer from Pennsylvania, chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This was their second time fishing with the Happy Day Today; their first trip was last year during the Summer time also. Sharing the split party charter were Rob from New Mexico and Eric from New Finland.

Winds were out of the east 7-12 mph with seas running 3-4 ft. and a 20% chance of rain, which is typical living here in the subtropics in Fort Lauderdale. Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at Bahia Mar, we were at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale located in 120 ft. of water. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down, one with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip; the other was with a pink and blue sea witch. For surface baits we had two Ballyhoos and a yellow alibi feather and a Ballyhoo daisy chain teaser.

We trolled from 80 ft out to 200 ft zig zagging back and forth across the reefs and trolling over some of our 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale Broward County area. Jeff and his son, Nick, avid fishermen, knew the routine since they fished with us in the past - everyone taking turns bringing in the fish. We ended up with a total of 7 Kingfish from 6-15 lbs, 7 Bonitos and two Barracudas – plenty of fish for dinner for all.

All the anglers retired into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
