Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Shark Braden-Miller.jpg

Regis Miller III and his sons, Jay and Charlie from Pittsburgh, along with their friend Braden Lambros from Chicago chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Winds were out of the east at 5 mph, seas running 2-3 ft with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 90’s. What a perfect summer day for family and friend to enjoy fishing!!!!

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in the water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL, located in 120 ft. of water. We had a request for Shark fishing, which will be fitted into the schedule later on in the trip. We started off with trolling with two plainers down, one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a blue and white sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip, and for surface baits we had four Bonito strips. We have 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale in Broward County, ranging from 520 ft. freighters to 35 ft. sailboats and ranging from 420 ft. to 60 ft. in depth – this is a good attraction for bait fish and in return the predators will not be too far behind. I trolled from one wreck to another catching Bonitos, Kingfish and Barracudas.

It was now time to do some Shark fishing so I headed out to the Shark grounds located in 350 ft. of water in Fort Lauderdale. I started out with one surface Shark bait, one midrange and one bottom. The wait was not long. We got hooked up on the midrange bait as the line from the 80 International Reel exited at a fast pace. Braden with enormous enthusiasm was our angler as he hopped into the fighting chair to do battle. The tug of war went on for forty minutes, and Braden was rewarded with a 94 inch Hammerhead Shark. Pictures were taken of his catch, and the Shark was released to do battle again.

All the anglers retired into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
