Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak
Wahoo Preston2.jpg

Preston and Ashley Pope from Utah were in the sunshine state enjoying their honeymoon. They chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing here Fort Lauderdale. Winds were out of the west at 5 mph, seas running 2-3 ft and temperatures were in the mid 80’s.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. We started off with two plainers, one with a pink and blue sea witch with a double hooked Ballyhoo and the other with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon. For surface baits we had four Ballyhoos. While Mark, our mate, was putting the 3rd line out, the plainer rod bent over, line exiting the reel at a high rate of speed and the rod tip bounced up and down. A good indication that at the end of the line was a Wahoo!! After a twenty minute battle, Preston was rewarded with a 33 lb. Wahoo!!! We kept trolling around and caught 8 Kingfish and two Bonitos. From there we decided to do some Snapper fishing in deep waters, so we went out to 320 ft. of water, and Preston and Ashley wound up catching 11 Silky Snappers.

With a variety on the menu for tonight, Preston and Ashley went into the a/c salon for the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
