New from the plains of Colorado

Yes, I know. You hear Colorado and imagine pristine mountain lakes and lots of trout. Well, I live a couple of hours from the mountains, and most of the fish I chase are of the warm water type. I do get to the mountains from time to time and spend some time in Wyoming every year fishing for trout. Right now, my favorite fishto catch is the carp. I sight fish for them with a flyrod in both the resevoirs and rivers. There's nothing quite hooking into a big carp on a fly rod.

I am looking forward to exploring this forum and seeing what is out there.

Welcome to the boards kais :welcome:

Carp are fun to catch, but I wouldn't stick a knife in one. I caught a carp once under the docks using a treble hook with canned corn on it. I was young and it was the coolest thing ever at that time in my life. Ahhh...fond memories.

when i was a kid around 10 years old we used to have a cabin up on the lake and i can remember wading knee deep picking up carp as they spawned and they were longer than we were and squirted 30 million grren eggs all over the place !

That is one of the reasons that I decided to start fishing for them. The Division of Wildlife told me that over 90 percent of the bio-mass in the lakes and rivers is carp. There are a bunch of them.

well then you should never ever get skunked if you fish for the species that over populates the lake :fishin:
