New stuff for the boat this spring

Post by allingeneral »

I've added a bit of hardware to the boat this Spring. Boaters World is going out of business, so I've been in there a few times over the last month or so. I've also been scouring craigslist for a GPS and finally found one. Here's what's been added to the boat so far...

Garmin 172C GPS with Chesapeake Maps - Now I can take that trip around Smith Point and head down to Va Beach!! :)

Pyle Marine Stereo with 6.5" speakers. This stereo doesn't have a CD player, but it does have an input jack for the I-Pod and Sirius Satellite radio - also has a USB port and an SD card slot for tunes...pretty cool!

New 8-foot fiberglass Shakespeare VHF antenna to replace the old broken one.

New tube for the kids. The younger kids can sit down in this one, that way they won't have to hold on as tightly with Dad, the crazy driver! :) Next purchase for the kids will be a kneeboard.

Boat's at the shop right now getting the lower shift cable replaced. Was having problems getting the old Mercruiser Alpha 1 to shift into reverse without stalling. :(

Still need to get:

Bimini Top - Need some head room that the original top just doesn't provide.

Batteries - I have one battery that's still in "OK" shape, but the other one is dead and won't take a charge. Might as well replace them both at once to keep the charging system happy.

I'm sure there's more...I would like to replace the old hydraulic trim tabs with electric tabs. My starboard side tab has an oil leak right now.

I'm still sure there's more...

Yeah, but it's nice that I paid less than one-third of what it cost brand new and I'm just as happy with it as the original owner was. I don't mind dropping a few bucks to fix her up from time to time.

I say that now, but there is definitely a limit!!
