Newbie from Arkansas--Recent Fishing

New guy here from Arkansas. My last fishing experience was last week off a pier in Gulf Shores. Sadly, I read today that the pier is closed to fishing because of the oil spill. We sure hit it right last week. It was beautiful! My sons and I caught a bunch of small fish on a sabiki rig--the boys loved it! We also caught a good size spadefish with a frozen shrimp. That was pretty cool since it didn't look anything like the bass, catfish or trout we catch here in Arkansas. We saw someone pull in a big speckled trout, and someone else was cleaining a big king mackerel. Now that we're back home, the boys were up to their old tricks--catching bass and catfish out of a pond on the golf course behind our house. These boys just can't get enough fishing!

That oil spill is really going to have a bad impact on the Gulf Coast, that's for sure. I've heard that shrimp prices will be through the roof soon, since the Gulf is where much of the shrimp in the US comes from.

Glad to hear that you and the boys had a nice time! :fishing:
