I still use monofilament line, but have considered braid recently. I wasn;t even aware of the "wind factor", but with the lightness of braid, I can see the issue now that it's been thoroughly explained. Thanks, Capt!

Another issue that I have had with braid in the past is how it deteriorates....some strands start breaking here and there, and eventually you end up with a "hairy mess". This was when I used braid several years ago. Has braid gotten better with regard to this issue?

I have not had any problems with that. I have tried many kinds but my most recent favorite is Suffix, especially their 832 braid. I fish it every day and have had no problems. It costs a lot at first but should last you for a couple years if you don't have to cut it off from a knot.
