Deshka River, AK !!! June 04-07

Hi all, I went fishing today, on the Deshka River, out of Willow Alaska.
I got picked up at 4 am, and at 5 am, we left the launch, on the Big Susitna River. We went pretty far up the Deshka and nothing was biting, so, the fishing Guide "Ray",
said lets move down to the mouth of the river, and see what we can get, there were 4 other people on board, from Wisconsin, we were talking about fishing, and what size fish we got, and with me workin on boats in Southern California, and have more opportunity than most, of course I had to brag about the yellow tail, and tuna, I had caught. Not more than 5 minutes later, "FISH ON"!!!! took me about 15 minutes to land this beauty, was using 65 lb power pro dacron line, with a "SPINNING REEL". Now let me tell you, I DONT USE SPINNING REELS, so this was comedy!!! Ray, was impressed that he didnt have to tell me anything, on how to bring the fish in, but he laughed and how unorganized I was when trying to reel this thing on on a spinning reel. Anyways, by the end of the day, I had gotten a 38 lb King Salmon, and one of the other guests, had gotten a 22 lber. Here are pictures of the trip, before, during and after!!!
This is who I went with, Great Guide.
Ask for Ray, tell him Terri sent you!!
