Sabine Lake Fishing

Post by AnglerOutfitters »

From Capt. Randy Foreman in Port Arthur.

Fishing on Sabine Lake has picked up the speckled trout moved up north and the birds are working over shrimp my best bait has been glow/chart 1/4 jig. Look for 1 or 2 birds and you will find speckled trout with best time being the change of tide. The north end of Sabine Lake is holding bigger trout to 6 lbs.

We are drifting red shad and morning glory plastics 1/4 oz jig in 2 to 4 ft of water. The early morning bite is best and the trout are tight to the bank - look for mullet working the flats by the islands. After that bite I have been running the lake catching nice speckled trout to 4 1/2 lbs under birds with the shrimp showing up on top. Flounder fishing is in full swing I am catching limits to 4 lbs on the Louisiana shoreline.
