South Florida Peacock Bass Fishing Report 4-29-08

It's still great fishing in Miami for Peacock Bass. Today we were out and boated 38 up to 4 lbs. The fishing is great as long as the weather stays hot. This is usual for largemouth bass fisherman to understand but true. Peacock bass need very hot water to be active. They will come super shallow the hotter and sunnier it is! Bass retreat into deeper cover or water but not butterfly peacock bass in Miami.

So, are these Peacock bass indigenous to Florida or were they brought here and stocked by the government? We recently had a post about how Blue Catfish are taking over the James River and I assumed that they always lived there but came to find out that they were stocked for several years in the 1970's. Peacock bass don;t seem native to me... What can you tell us about it?
